After merging partitions, all files in drive D moved to system C: drive automatically.

Though it is easy and fast to merge Server 2003 partitions, this is not the best choice to solve system volume Low Disk Space problem by merging drives C: and D:, because all shorcuts to partition D becomes invalid after merging.

The best way is resizing partitions, shrink an data drive to get some free space and then extend the system C: drive.
